There was a widespread power outage in Washington DC today—
The State Department, Department of Justice, White House, US Capitol and even the Department of Energy are affected.
An explosion at a Maryland power center caused the outage.
Charles County fire officials tell FOX 5 there was a transformer explosion and fire at a substation in the county. This is where Pepco and Southern Maryland Electric Coop lines meet. Fire crews are at the transformer waiting for the power to be shut down, so they can put out the fire.
WHITE HOUSE IS IN A SECURITY LOCKDOWN!!
DC DHS believes it was an explosion at a SMECO power facility.
The State Department Briefing Room went dark.

That’s Marie Harf behind the microphone.
The halls are pitch black.
There are no indications of a terrorist attack.
More…. Washington DC Power Outage and MARC Service – Train problems
MARC has received word that there is a major power outage affecting the Washington, DC area and that some government agencies are releasing employees early. MARC trains are expected to operate on-time, however, we are unable to operate larger sets of equipment earlier. In addition, due to the power failure, the ability of Camden and Brunswick Line crews to receive their printed operational instructions from CSX Transportation is severely constrained and delays to departures may result.
MARC is closely monitoring this situation and will provide updates as they are available.
REPORTERS are stuck inside the White House
(Maybe they’ll get their tea party with Obama now?)
